Tata Motors T1 Prima Truck Racing Championship Season 3: Overview

However, the Indian truck racers did not race with the professional British racers and had a separate race in Super class. The main race for the International racers called the Pro Class saw the raise in number of laps from 15 in first 2 seasons to 20 laps. There were 6 teams that participated in the pro class championship.

Tata Prima 4038.S Truck
Talking about the trucks used in the race, Tata Prima 4038.S is the truck used in the race. The truck sheds out 370bhp @2100 rpm and its top speed is 130 Km/h as compared to 110 km/h is season 1. Tata Motors claims that the weight of the truck has been reduced by almost 800 Kg as compared to trucks used in Season 1 in 2014.

Excessive use of lighter parts like aluminium, light weight suspension system & use of water tanks has helped the company to get this massive weight reduction. The trucks also have improved shock absorbers, new brake cooling system with jet nozzles and the truck's centre of gravity has been reduced by 100 mm.

Tata Prima 4038.S at the Pit Stop
Mr. Guenter Butschek, CEO and MD of Tata Motors in an exclusive interview to NDTV said: "I think it's the best possible opportunity to understand what Tata Motors is all about, Tata Motors is pioneering because it did not only pioneer products but it also has pioneered T1 truck race and on other side we are very passionate about what we are doing"
Jagat Singh & Nagarjuna A won the first ever Indian truck race in the Super class rally and having finished fourth in the first 8-lap race of the two Pro class races comprising of international drivers, David Jenkins of Team Tata Technologies took top honours in the final 20-lap race, with Rick Collett and Graham Powell both from Team Tata Cummins, taking second and third place respectively, in an action packed race. Mat Summerfield of Team Castrol Vecton, winner of the first 8-lap race, clocked the fastest lap of 1:50:691 seconds, in the second race, around the 3.1 kilometres race track.

T1 truck prima racing also attracted over 50,000 people and apart from some serious truck racing the crowd also witnessed some good entertainment by famous singers like Sunidhi Chauhan, Badshah to name a few.
