Tata Nexon Caught Testing Again With New Production-Ready Parts

- Tata Nexon prototype was seen with new U-shaped LED tail lamps
- Its design is claimed to have been inspired from the Range Rover Evoque
- The SUV's interior design and features will be similar to the Zest
The Tata Nexon sub-compact SUV has been undergoing testing in the country for quite a while now. It has been nearly ten months since the carmaker revealed the near-production version of the Nexon at the 2016 Auto Expo and the car now seems to be in its final stages of testing. Even after its unveiling, there have been several sightings of the test mules in India, and each time the Nexon has looked a bit more production ready. The most recent spy images of the car reveal new production tail lamps that come with U-shaped LED lights along with a plastic cladded rear bumper and LED lights for the number plate housing.
Expected to be launched in India in the first half of 2017, the new Tata Nexon will compete with the likes of the Ford EcoSport and the Mahindra TUV300. Currently, the carmaker's focus is channelled towards the launch of the all-new Tata Hexa crossover, which is set to go on sale in India in January. That said we believe the next in line will most likely be the Tata Nexon.
Tata Nexon's New LED Tail Lamps
Coming to the car itself, Tata Motors claims that the Nexon's design inspiration has been taken from the Range Rover Evoque. Essentially a sub-4 metre SUV, the Nexon measures about 3995 mm in length and has a ground clearance of 200 mm. The cabin, on the other hand, is inspired from the Tata Zest and will come with a new dashboard along with Tata's signature three-spoke steering wheel, new horizontally-profiled AC vents, stylish instrument cluster and rotary controls for the HVAC system.
Under the hood, the Nexon is claimed to be powered by a new 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel motor. Although earlier there were claims that the sub-compact SUV will be powered by a 1.3-litre Fiat-sourced MultiJet diesel unit. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and most likely the F-Tronic AMT on the diesel version, as seen in the Zest.
The Tata Nexon will be launched in India with a price tag in the range of Rs. 6 lakh to Rs. 10 lakh (ex-showroom).
