Waiting period for Maruti Celerio AMT is 6 months now

People who are planning to buy a Maruti Suzuki Celerio, might have to wait for six months to get their car delivered after booking, if the booked version is Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) gearbox equipped. Launched in February, this year, the Celerio has been receiving around 1000 bookings a day across the nation, of which more than half are for the AMT version. While, Maruit had expected a 20% demand for the AMT version.
Since Maruti Suzuki India is importing AMT box from Magneto Marelli, increasing the production of the AMT powered versions to cut down the demand-and-supply gap is a tough job. So, the waiting period might be increased further. The demand for the AMT is more in metropolitan cities, where the waiting period for the car has gone to six months.
The Celerio sources its power from the 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, K-Series petrol engine, which also powers the WagonR, Alto K10 and discontinued A-Star. This engine churns out a maximum power of 67bhp with 90Nm of torque. Interestingly, the Celerio's AMT powered version is found to be more fuel efficient than the regular Manual one. While the five-speed manual transmission gearbox powered model returns 22kmpl, the Celerio AMT returns a whooping 23.1kmpl of mileage.
The exterior of the Celerio resembles to the A-Wind Concept, which was previewed at the Thailand Motor Show. With extended dimensions, the Celerio looks bigger than its predecessor (A-Star). The Interior too looks more up-market than before.
