2021 Tata Safari Launched In India; Prices Start At Rs. 14.69 Lakh

The iconic Safari nameplate is back. Tata Motors has finally launched the much-awaited 2021 Tata Safari has been launched in India. The flagship SUV gets a starting price of Rs. 14.69 lakh and go up to Rs 21.45 lakh (introductory prices, ex-showroom, Delhi). The Indian carmaker also introduced a special variant - 'Adventure Persona' which is priced from Rs. 20.20 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Last month, the Indian carmaker announced that it would be resurrecting the legendary 'Safari' nameplate for the Gravitas concept, which was revealed at the Auto Expo 2020. Banking on the huge buzz, it was unveiled in India on 72nd Republic Day. The company is already accepting bookings for the new Safari, which can be booked across all authorised dealerships with a token amount of Rs. 30,000.

The new Tata Safari comes in nine variants across four trims - XE, XM, XT, and XZ. The SUV is available in both six-seater and seven-seater configurations. Do note, all variants are offered with a 7-seater configuration. However, variants offered with captain seats in the middle row (6-seater) is limited to XZ+ and XZA+ variants only.

The Tata Safari takes its design cues from the younger sibling, the 5-seater Harrier
Built on the new IMPACT 2.0 design philosophy, the SUV is underpinned by the Land Rover D8 derived Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced Architecture (OMEGARC) platform. On the outside, the Safari gets a slightly restyled chrome-studded front grille with a tri-arrow theme, Xenon HID projector headlamps, dual function LED DRLs with turn indicators, front fog lamps, signature twin light LED taillight, 18-inch alloy wheels, roof rails with Safari branding, panoramic sunroof and more. Dimensionally, the new Safari is 70 mm longer than the Harrier with a length of 4,661 mm, width of 1,894 mm and height of 1,786 mm. The wheelbase remains unchanged at 2,741 mm. It is available in three colour options - Daytona Grey, Royale Blue, Orcus White and Tropical Mist.

The all-new Tata Safari gets new dual-tone black and ivory colour scheme on the inside.
The cabin of the Safari adorns a dual-tone Oyster White paint scheme that is complemented by an ashwood dashboard. The SUV comes loaded with an 8.8-inch floating infotainment unit with Tata's IRA connected car technology. The system also gets Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and voice recognition compatibility. Other features offered on the SUV are premium Benecke Kaliko Oyster White leather seat upholstery, seven-inch instrument panel, nine-speaker JBL sound system, electric parking brake, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, push-button start, Rain Sensing Wipers, Electrically Adjustable and Foldable Outer Mirrors, 6-way Powered Driver Seat with adjustable lumbar support, Steering Wheel with Tilt & Telescopic Adjustment, Boss mode, second-row seats, Fully Automatic Temperature Control (FATC) among others.

Under the hood, the new Tata Safari is powered by a BS6-compliant 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, Kryotec turbocharged diesel engine. It is the same powerhouse that also powers its younger sibling, 5-seater Harrier. The oil burner is capable of churning out 168 bhp at 3,750 rpm with 350 Nm of torque at 1,750-2,500 rpm. Transmission duties are carried out by a six-speed manual gearbox as standard with an optional Hyundai sourced six-speed automatic torque converter automatic unit.
