Highlights

  • Aprilia Tuareg 660 likely to be launched by the end of 2021
  • Gets the same engine as the Tuono 660 & RS 660
  • Will be a focussed middleweight off-road motorcycle

It was at EICMA 2019 that Aprilia teased the Tuareg 660 adventure motorcycle. Kept in a glass case, hidden behind leaves and bushes, Aprilia kept the Tuareg 660 along with showcasing the Tuono 660 and the RS 660. While the other two motorcycles have been launched globally and will be coming to India as well, the Tuareg has been shrouded in mystery all this while, with the global pandemic playing a likely part in it. Now, Cristian Romeo Barelli, product marketing manager at Aprilia said that the Tuareg will be an off-road focussed model, in an interview to Motociclismo, an Italian motorcycle magazine.

The motorcycle is likely to be lightweight, have a 21-inch front wheel and an 18-inch rear wheel and be a hoot to ride. The 660 platform was developed keeping a fun, sporty intent in mind and the Tuareg 660 will be all these things, Barelli told the magazine. Like its siblings, the Tuareg 660 is also likely to be packed to the gills with the latest electronic rider aids, including multi-level traction control, cornering ABS, wheelie control, engine brake control and slide control. The 659 cc parallel-twin makes close to 100 bhp in its highest tune, but for the Tuareg 660, the state of tune may be changed to suit the bike's character, with more low and mid-range grunt, rather than outright performance.

Spyshots of the Aprilia Tuareg 660 have already been in circulation and from the looks of it, it does seem to be a hardy and a fun motorcycle. Will it come to India? We surely hope so.
