Auto Sales August 2022: Maruti Suzuki Reports 6.1% MoM Decline

Maruti Suzuki India reported its sales figures for August 2022 and the company sold 1,65,173 units (domestic + exports). The automaker registered a year-over-year growth of almost 26.4 per cent, as the company sold 1,30,699 units in August 2021. With respect to month-on-month sales, the company registered a decline of 6.1 per cent with 1,75,916 units sold in July 2022. Maruti Suzuki's domestic sales stood at 1,43,692 units in August 2022, while exports grew, and stood at 21,481 units. Like previous months, Maruti Suzuki stated that a "shortage of electronic components had a minor impact on the production of vehicles, mainly the domestic models."

In the ‘mini’ segment, Maruti's wholesales stood at 22,162 units of the Alto and S-Presso, while in the ‘compact’ segment, the company sold 71,557 units of the Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, WagonR and Tour S. Sales of the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz stood at 1,516 units, while utility vehicle sales was 26,932 units with the Ertiga, S-Cross, Brezza and the XL6 bringing the volumes. Maruti sold 11,999 units of the Eeco van last month. Lastly, 3,371 units of the Super Carry LCV were sold in July. The carmaker also revealed that 6,155 units were sold to Toyota as part of the Suzuki-Toyota partnership, a figure which saw a 38 per cent MoM decline, as the Toyota Urban Cruiser awaits the generation change that Maruti Suzuki Brezza received recently.

The Grand Vitara will be launched in India this festive season.
