Auto Sales May 2022: MG Motor India Registers Sale Of 4,008 Units

- MG Motor India retailed 4,008 units in May 2022
- MG Hector continues to be the best-selling model for the company

MG Motor India registered retail sales of 4,008 units in May 2022, which is a growth of 99.6 per cent over April 2022 where the company sold 2,008 units. This growth demonstrates improvement in chip availability, and the company is hoping for the situation to further improve in the coming months. MG registered a massive 294.5 per cent year-on-year increase with sales of 1,016 units in May 2021, which could be termed as an anomaly as the country was in the grip of the second wave of the pandemic at the time.

MG says that the demand for its vehicles remains strong and coupled with healthy bookings, the company expects the growth momentum to continue. Although manufacturing stays impacted due to the global pandemic. MG Motor India recently crossed sales of 1 lakh cars in the Indian market ever since it began its sales operations back in 2019. The company's first launch, the MG Hector has been its bestselling model so far followed by the MG Astor and MG ZS EV.

MG Motor India also announced a with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) to strengthen the EV charging infrastructure across the country. The company says that the partnership with BPCL is focused on faster adoption for EVs by expanding opportunities for intercity travel as both parties will install EV chargers across highways as well as within cities. MG Motor will also use BPCL's widespread network of fuel stations to install charging stations. Both companies will strategically identify charging sites, get consumer insights, devise loyalty programs, and create technology to manage charging systems across the country.
