BMW G 310 R Less Expensive Than the KTM Duke 390 in the UK

- The BMW G 310 R will be launched in India around October this year
- It is powered by a 313cc, producing 34bhp and 28Nm
- Pricing is expected to be between Rs. 1.8 lakh to Rs. 2 lakh
Much has been said and discussed about the G 310 R, BMW's first ever entry-level performance motorcycle. The G310R was recently launched in the UK at a price of 4,290 pounds (Rs. 3.88 lakh upon conversion). In comparison, the KTM Duke 390 sells in the UK at a price of 4,549 pounds (Rs. 4.11 lakh upon conversion).
The duties and tariffs structure in the UK is very different from what it is in India. For example, the Royal Enfield Continental GT is priced at 5,200 pounds (Rs. 4.7 lakh upon conversion) but in India it sells for about Rs. 1.93 lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi) as compared to the price of the Duke 390, which sells at about Rs. 1.96 lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi).

Yes, it is extremely confusing! We were as baffled when we first learnt about this. Thank god for the fact that we do not live in UK. There is quite a possibility that the price of the G 310 R might just creep past the Rs. 2 lakh mark. Also, given below is a table which draws comparison of the G310R and the Duke 390. Considering all things, BMW Motorrad will have to come up with something really special so as to take the Duke 390 head on in this segment.
We will have to wait till October 2016 as that is when the bike will be launched. This is the first time TVS has joined hands with BMW to manufacture the G 310 R. Also, this will mark the first occasion when a BMW motorcycle will be manufactured outside of Europe. The G 310 R was first showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo and has been spotted testing quite a few times in the past months. The G310R will go head to head with the likes of Mahindra Mojo, the 350cc models of Royal Enfield apart from the Duke 390 and the Continental GT
