Hyundai Elite i20 - Expected Price, Mileage and Features

Mark August 11, 2014 in your calendars, for that is the day when we'll finally get to see the much-awaited Elite i20 - the new-generation model of Hyundai's popular premium hatchback. The company has already revealed the official sketch images of the car, and has initiated pre-bookings across the nation.
So, if you are considering this car, here's our preview.
Exterior
Based on Hyundai's 'Fluidic Sculpture 2.0' design philosophy, the Elite i20 looks completely different from the outgoing model. The new i20 was designed at Hyundai Motor's Design Centre Europe in Russelsheim, Germany. The front-fascia of the car gets the company's new signature hexagonal grille and a new thin horizontal strip that meets the head-lamps.

The rear profile also looks completely new, with 'boomerang' shaped tail-lights, new wrap-around windows and a few more changes. The side profile is quite appealing too, thanks to the dark treatment of the C-pillar. The car will get 15-inch alloys as standard provision across all variants, except the top-end variant, which will get 16-inch diamond-cut alloys.
Interior
Hyundai i20 is already the most feature-loaded hatchback in its league, and the new-generation model with several standard features on offer is expected to become even more feature-rich. With a longer wheelbase, the Elite i20 will be more spacious than the current i20. The new model will get a new 3-spoke steering wheel instead of the 4-spoke steering found in the existing model. Features like rear AC vent, touchscreen music player, automatic climate control and push start-stop button will also be offered on the mid and top-end variants.
Engine and Transmission Options
The new Elite i20 will carry over the existing engine options from the exiting i20 model i.e. 1.2-litre Kappa2 petrol and a 1.4-litre CRDi diesel. However, the 1.4-litre petrol unit will be discontinued.
1.2-litre petrol with a 5-speed manual transmission - 83bhp, 114Nm
1.4-litre diesel with a 6-speed manual transmission - 89bhp, 220Nm
Mileage
All the engine options offered with the current i20 are already quite frugal, though we expect the Elite i20 to become even more fuel-efficient. The 1.2-litre petrol and 1.4-litre diesel currently return a mileage of 18.5Km/l and 21.27Km/l respectively. The aforementioned fuel economy figures are ARAI certified.
