Kawasaki To Unveil A Super-Charged Touring Bike At EICMA 2017

- The new Kawasaki tourer will be based on the Ninja H2
- The engine will be tuned to offer more power in the mid-range
- There will be a host of electronics on offer as well
Kawasaki recently released a teaser video which showed glimpses of a super-charged motorcycle. We can now confirm and say that the Japanese superbike manufacturer will be showcasing a touring superbike based on the mental Ninja H2. This will be the first ever production touring motorcycle to be super-charged. The company says that super-charging the bike will not only offer tonnes of power but also be smooth and keep it easy on the pocket as far as fuel bills are concerned. Reports suggest that Kawasaki will keep the name of the bike to be Ninja H2 SX.

The Ninja H2 tourer will be getting the same engine as the standard H2 but will be re-mapped to make around 200 bhp with most of it coming in the low and mid-range. The bike could also feature Kawasaki's first ever variable boost super-charger technology. A concept was shown at the last Tokyo Motor Show, which had small vanes (blades attached to a rotating axis) on the inlet, which can control the flow of air into the super-charger as per the accelerator inputs of the rider.
Needless to say, Kawasaki will be offering its latest generation of electronic aids such as ABS, traction control, wheelie control and various riding modes. There will also be a six-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU) along with other touring aids such as satellite navigation, heated palm grips and seats and other touring equipment. When launched, the Kawasaki Ninja H2 SX will go up against the likes of the Ducati Multistrada 1200 S, new Honda Goldwing and the BMWK1600GTL.
