- The Mahindra XUV400 electric SUV is based on the XUV300
- The XUV400 gets the new Twin Peaks logo and new X-motif grille
- The Mahindra XUV400 is expected to priced on par with the Tata Nexon EV Max
Mahindra & Mahindra has dropped the first teaser of the upcoming XUV400 all-electric SUV ahead of its debut on September 8, 2022. The upcoming offering is the electric version of the Mahindra XUV300 and was first showcased as the eXUV300 at the 2020 Auto Expo. This finally sets the ball rolling for Mahindra's EV aspirations with the XUV400 being a brand new electric launch from the company in the passenger vehicle market in a long time.

The upcoming Mahindra XUV400 teaser shows the car being charged followed by the familiar LED DRLs and projector headlamps. The X-motif grille has made it to the production version with the new Twin Peaks logo now taking centre stage. The rear design remains hidden for now and speculations suggest that's where the car will see big changes. The model is expected to be larger than four metres, considering EVs do not fall under the sub 4-metre tax bracket. This should give the model an edge over rivals while bringing a sizeable boot over the XUV300.
With respect to the powertrain, the Mahindra XUV400's electric motor is expected to belt out about 150 bhp, while the model could get two different battery options to choose from. The range is expected to be in excess of 450 km on a single charge. The XUV400 is expected to be positioned between the Tata Nexon EV and the MG ZS EV, while it's likely to be on par with the Nexon EV Max in terms of performance and pricing.
The XUV400 is expected to breach the four-metre barrier for subcompact SUVs bringing more boot capacity on the electric SUV
Mahindra is yet to announce details on the features but expect a lot of the features from the XUV300 to make it here as well. We could see upgrades in the form of a digital instrument console and possibly a bigger touchscreen infotainment unit too. It'll be interesting to see if the XUV400 arrives with ADAS.
