Mercedes-AMG Project ONE Hypercar Teased

- Mercedes-AMG Project ONE hypercar will have a 1:1 power to weight ratio
- Expect power figures to be close or higher than the 1000 bhp range
- The AMG Project ONE is a true successor to Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR road car
The Mercedes-AMG Project ONE hypercar is one of the most highly awaited high-performance cars of the recent past and nearly three years after it was first announced, will be unveiled soon. The Project ONE will make its official public debut at this year's Frankfurt Auto show and has been teased by Mercedes-Benz showcasing some revealing aspects of its design and form. The Mercedes-AMG Project ONE hypercar will essentially be as close as you can get to a Formula 1 racecar experience on the road and will have a 1:1 power to weight ratio. This means that for every kilogram of weight, there will be 1 horsepower to power it. Expect power figures to be close or higher than the 1000 bhp range.

(The Mercedes-AMG Project One could hark back to the Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR in terms of design)
From the teaser, it is very obvious that the AMG Project ONE is a true successor to the absurdly quick Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR road car that Mercedes-Benz produced in very limited numbers back in the late 1990s. The front grille is very sharply angled as you can see from the placement of the Mercedes-Benz logo on it harking back to the CLK GTR. The overall silhouette also suggests a very low nose and a very low overall stance to the car as expected from a 'road going racecar'. The design also confirms the separate air intake scoop that was first showcased in the powertrain presentation.
Coming to the powertrain, the Mercedes-AMG Project ONE, as we mentioned earlier, will have close to (or more than) 1000 bhp. The hypercar will be powered by a 1.6-litre V6 turbocharged engine, which is very very similar to the one used on the current Formula 1 racecar. The internal combustion engine is said to make over 700 bhp and will power the rear wheels. The 1.6-litre engine is also said to rev to 11,000 rpm - a remarkable feat for a forced induction street use power plant. The front wheels will be powered by two 160 bhp electric motors (each) which combined with the IC engine will give the Project ONE all-wheel-drive. 0-100 kmph times are expected to be under 2.5-seconds with a top speed north of 350 kmph.
