MG Motor India Presents Customised Hector SUV To Paralympics Medallist Bhavina Patel

- MG handed over the Hector in association with The Vadodara Marathon
- The special Hector gets hand-controlled lever for accelerator and brakes
- Bhavina Patel won a silver medal in table tennis at the Tokyo Paralympics
Earlier in August 2021, MG Motor India has announced that it will be presenting a customised vehicle to Paralympics medallist Bhavina Patel with a car, for winning a silver medal in table tennis, at the recent Tokyo Paralympics. Fulfilling its promise, the company today handed over a special MG Hector SUV to Patel that has been customised to suit the driving requirements of a disabled person. The project was carried out in association with The Vadodara Marathon, and the customised Hector was handed over to Bhavina Patel by Jayanta Deb, Chief Technical Officer, MG Motor India.

Olympic silver medalist, Bhavina Patel, said, "I truly appreciate this thoughtful gesture by MG Motor and the Vadodara Marathon. It gives me immense joy to call this completely customised Hector my own. It is a stunning vehicle at the forefront of innovation in our mobility ecosystem, and I look forward to experiencing its power from the driver's seat. Along with the mobility, this fantastic car also brings to me a sense of independence and empowerment."
MG Motor India says that the vehicle has been specially designed to offer a safe and pleasurable driving experience to Bhavina. Thus, it comes with features like a hand-controlled lever to operate the accelerator and brakes, along with meticulously engineered wheelchair attachments. It also comes with the convenience of a DCT automatic transmission and start/stop button, which means it's powered by the 141 bhp, 1.5-litre petrol engine.

Apart from MG, Mahindra & Mahindra too had announced its plan to honour two medallists of the Tokyo Paralympics - Sumit Antil, who bagged a gold medal for India in the F64 Men's javelin throw category, and Avani Lekhara, who won gold in the Women's 10 metres AR Standing SH1 final. While the former recently received a personalised XUV700 SUV, for Avani, Mahindra has said that it will design a special SUV, suited for those with disabilities; a first-ever from the company.
