New Renders Spark Rumours Of Kawasaki Ninja 700R

- Design renders reveal Ninja 700R to be inspired by Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R
- 700 cc engine expected to make around 95 bhp
- Kawasaki may showcase new Ninja 700R later this year
Latest design renders of what is touted as Kawasaki's efforts to revamp its middleweight sportsbike has sparked off rumours of a new model, the Kawasaki Ninja 700R. The design renders of the purported Kawasaki Ninja 700R have been published on social media by Kardesign Koncepts. And keeping with Kawasaki's design language, of smaller sportsbikes taking inspiration from the bigger siblings, the Kawasaki Ninja 700R also seems to be inspired by the new Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R. According to the rumours, the new Ninja 700R is likely to be an evolution of the current Kawasaki Ninja 650.

The images show that the Kawasaki Ninja 700R may be heavily inspired by the design of the Ninja ZX-10R
With a displacement bump, the Ninja 700R is expected to take the fight to the likes of the Aprilia RS 660 and the upcoming Yamaha YZF-R7, which is also to be a replacement for the discontinued Yamaha YZF-R6. The renderings are only that, an artist's imagination, and not official images from Kawasaki. And they borrow several elements from the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R, including the flagship superbike's face, tank design and tail section. Even the ZX-10R's exhaust and 320 mm front brake discs are used in the renderings, but keeping with the budget positioning of the 700R, the calipers are Nissin branded.

The Ninja 700R will need a comprehensive electronics suite to compete with the 100 bhp Aprilia RS 660
According to some reports, the Kawasaki Ninja 700R will also get top-spec chassis components, and the 700 cc engine is expected to make around 95 bhp. That would be enough power to take on the 100 bhp Aprilia RS 660, and will also likely take the fight to the upcoming Yamaha YZF-R7 with around 74 bhp.

But to really shine in the segment, Kawasaki will also need to equip the Ninja 700R with a comprehensive electronics suite, one that will at least be comparable to the RS 660's six-axis IMU-based electronics system, along with standard quickshifter. The proof they say, lies in the pudding, and if Kawasaki is actually working on a Ninja 700, more details are expected towards the latter part of the year, the season of new launches and the world's most famour motorcycle shows.
