- Could be offered with a range of powertrain options including EV
- On display at the Japan Mobility Show 2025
Toyota unveiled the new Corolla Concept to the public at the Japan Mobility Show 2025. The new concept marks a notable design departure from its predecessors, aligning with the company’s new bZ series and the latest Prius. Toyota says that the sleek, low-slung sedan previews its philosophy of ‘Mobility For All’ with Toyota President & CEO Koji Sato saying that the Corolla “has always been a car for everyone."

In its latest iteration, the Corolla is even sharper and sleeker than the current-generation models on sale in global markets. The front fascia features the company’s latest Hammerhead design with angular boomerang-shaped DRLs and a full-width lightbar on the low-set nose. Moving further back, the raised front fenders and sculpted bonnet are more akin to something on a supercar, adding sporting credentials to the concept. The windscreen is also very large by conventional car standards, with the upper section forming part of the roofline.

In profile, the concept features a charging port flap on the front fender with notable cuts and creases along the doors. The blacked-out B and C-pillars add a floating roof element to the overall design, while the roofline flows all the way to the tail, giving it coupe vibes.

From the rear, the dual-tone finish to the roof and upper boot lid, along with the squared-out design, makes the car appear wide and squat. A ducktail spoiler is integrated into the tip of the bootlid, while an edge-to-edge lightbar sits just below. A sculpted rear bumper rounds out the rather aggressive design.

Moving to the cabin, it features an overall theme of minimalism along with a driver-centric design. A digital instrument cluster is mounted directly to the steering column with a pair of wings extending on either side, housing haptic control surfaces for varying in-car functions. The concept also lacks a traditional central infotainment system, with the co-driver instead getting his own dedicated display. The cabin features a walk-through design with a flat floor with a floating island between the front seats and dashboard housing the all-important power (read Start/Stop) button and a unique crystal-like gear selector shaped into the form of the concept.
Toyota has not specified what powertrain is featured under the hood, though sleek design and unique lighting elements, including ones located under the side mirrors and the flap on the front fender, suggest this is likely to be electric.
The company has, however, not ruled out other means of propulsion with Sato saying, “Whether it's a battery EV, plug-in hybrid, hybrid, or internal combustion engine vehicle―whatever the power source―let's make good-looking cars that everyone will want to drive! This car is packed with inventions aimed at making that a reality.”
