Renault India Aims To Sell 1 Lakh Cars In 2016

- Renault has had a great run ever since it launched the Kwid
- Renault is looking to finish the year on a high note
- Last year the company sold 50,000 cars and aims to sell 1 lakh this year
Yes, Renault is looking to finish the year on a high as it aims to sell 1 lakh cars. The Kwid is a big contributor to this growth and in fact Sumit Sawhney, CEO and MD Renault India said, "So far from January to August 2016, we have sold 87,000 cars out of which 65,000 units are Kwid."
Last year the company sold 50,000 cars and that too was thanks to the Kwid which launched later in the year. We can clearly see how the company has moved on from their former strategy of bombarding the Indian crowd with cars in one year and use the next to sustain the sales by bringing out updates.

Renault targets to launch a brand new car every year and is now in the portfolio development mode which is great and this also shows how differently Renault is looking at the Indian market. It's clearly looking at the country as an export hub but it's also working on cars that will work in the country.
As we know the Kwid will be exported to the SAARC countries Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh. In fact it is also manufactured in Brazil but as Carlos Ghosn, Chairman and CEO, Renault-Nissan Alliance, India will be looked at as an export hub for the Kwid. The strategy has worked for Renault with the Kwid and in fact there is still the AMT version of the car that is yet to hit the market. Renault has promised that the car will be launched this year it self and we'll let you know all about it.
