Renault Kwid's Price to Go Up From January, 2016

Renault Kwid was undoubtedly the biggest launch in the Indian automobile industry this year. Once it was shown to the Indian media, all eyes were set on the pricing of the car. When the prices were announced at the time of its launch, the car had taken the entire industry by storm. In order to reap the promising figures the Kwid has been generating from the time of its launch, Renault is expected to decided to increase the hatchback's price. While the French carmaker is yet to reveal the exact figures of the price hike for its range, word has it that it will be somewhere around 3 per cent.

With prices starting from Rs. 2.56 lakh, it became one of the most desired cars in the Indian automobile industry. This became more obvious when the Renault Kwid mulled over 50,000 bookings in just first five weeks of its launch. This reaction from the Indian market had forced Renault to increase the production of the Kwid to meet the demand. Renault is expected to produce 8,000-10,000 units of Kwid by February from 5,000-6,000 units being produced currently every month. Soon, Renault achieved the milestone of selling 10,600 units in just two months which also resulted in 144% growth for Renault in domestic sales in the month of November. In certain markets, the waiting period for the Renault Kwid went up to 10 months.
Renault Kwid comes powered by an 800cc petrol unit mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and puts out 54bhp and 72Nm of peak torque. Its mileage is rated at 25.17Km/l, which makes Renault Kwid India's most fuel-efficient petrol car. Other than 98 per cent localisation, Renault Kwid also offers multiple segment-first features such as 300-litre boot space, 180mm ground clearance and a 4.1-inch touch-screen infotainment system.
