Tata Tiago has achieved a new production milestone as the home-grown automaker recently rolled out the 1,00,000th Tiago from its Sanand plant in Gujarat. It's been about one and a half years since the car was launched in India and we have to say this is quite an impressive milestone for the Tiago. Currently, the Tata Tiago is the most popular hatchback from Tata Motors and it was also the first car to be based on the carmaker's Impact design platform, which currently also underpins the company's latest models like - the Hexa, Tigor, and the newly launched Nexon.

The Tata Tiago was also the first car to bring a lot of fresh appeal to the company passenger car portfolio. Essentially, it was that first hatchback from them that did not look like the Indica, which was also one of its biggest selling points. Tata currently sells an average of about 4,500 units of the Tiago in India and the numbers almost doubled during the festive season months. In September 2017 alone the company sold over 8300 units of the Tata Tiago in India.
Visually, the Tata Tiago comes with styling additions like 3 dimensional headlamps, a bold grille, smart chrome treatment, sculpted bumper housing a wide central air dam with a mesh grille and round foglamps with chrome bezels. The Tiago also comes with alloy wheels, nice wraparound tail lamps and a roof-mounted spoiler. Along with it smart-looking exterior design, the Tiago also comes with a well-designed interior with ample cabin room, premium quality material, and over 20 utility spaces inside the car along with improved safety features. The Tiago also comes with a Multi-drive mode - City and Eco, which was a first-in-class offering.

With the Tiago, Tata Motors also introduced the new 1.05-litre, 3-cylinder diesel motor, which the company calls the Revotorq engine. The oil burner makes 69 bhp and develops 140 Nm of peak torque and comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. The Tiago also gets the company's tried and tested 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine that makes 84 bhp and 114 Nm of peak torque. The petrol engine comes paired with both a 5-speed manual gearbox and an option AMT unit.
Currently, the Tata Tiago is priced in India at Rs. 3.21 lakh for the base model XE variant, going up to Rs. 5.74 lakh for the top-end XZ variant. Early this year, Tata Motors also introduced a special edition model - Tiago Wizz in India, which is priced at Rs. 4.52 lakh for the petrol variant and Rs. 5.30 lakh for the diesel model (all ex-showroom, Delhi).
