Tata Tiago Clocks Over 50,000 Orders, Waiting Period Extended To 4 Months

- Tiago has received more than 50,000 orders since its launch in April 2016
- The waiting period for certain variants is four months
- The petrol model constitutes a major share of the Tiago's demand
Tata Tiago, the home-grown automaker's current best-seller, has now received over 50,000 bookings. Launched in April 2016, Tata Motors' latest hatchback has continually received remarkable demand since then. The hatchback's sales have grown progressively since its launch, going from 3,022 units in April to 5,114 units in July, before dropping to 4,527 units in August. Just so you know, the automaker retailed 4,557 units of the Tiago last month.
The sterling response, however, has now led the Tiago's waiting period to go up to four months for certain variants. While the wait may concern some, it must be noted that it took Tata less than two months to produce the first 10,000 units of its latest hatchback. Then there's also the fact that the Tiago is manufactured at Tata's Sanand facility in Gujarat and is one of the only two cars to be produced there. The other Tata car made in Sanand, the GenX Nano, doesn't see much demand anyway; hence, it wouldn't hurt to decrease its production.

Tata Tiago Rear
The Tata Tiago is currently offered with a choice of two engine options: a 1.2-litre Revotron petrol and a 1.05-litre Revotorq diesel. While the petrol develops 83bhp along with 114Nm of torque, the diesel puts out 67bhp and 140Nm of maximum torque. Both motors get a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. The upcoming Tata Tiago AMT will receive an F-Tronic system sourced from Magnetti Marelli and will be offered only with the petrol engine.
Tiago's commercial success can be attributed to a myriad of reasons such as its versatility and aggressive price. And we expect the car's position in the entry-level hatchback segment to be further strengthened with the arrival of the Tata Tiago AMT.
