Tata Tiago Hatchback Revealed in Spyshots

Tata Tiago, which will be unveiled in India next month before its January, 2016 launch, was recently spotted sans camouflage. Codenamed, Tata Kite, the spyshots reveal quite a bit of the features that are likely to be offered on the new Tata hatchback. From what we can see, Tata Tiago will get the signature honeycomb-grille with a chrome 'Humanity-Line', body-cloured door handles, chrome-encasing for fog-lamps and interior door handles, wraparound tail-lamps, a rear wiper, rear parking sensors, and alloy wheels.

Designed with inputs from from the carmaker's design centres in Coventry, Turin, the Tata Tiago gets a prominent shoulder line that runs through the door handles all the way to the tail-lamp cluster. The car in the spyshots, which is likely the top-end variant of the Tata Tiago, also sports dual-tone interior and turn indicators on wing mirrors. Other than that, expect Tata to also offer front and rear power windows, steering-mounted audio and telephony controls, ABS, EBD and dual airbags.

The Tiago hatchback is based on the XO platform, a refurbished version of the that of the Indica, and will get a choice of 2 engine options: a new 1.05-litre, 3-cylinder diesel engine and the 1.2-litre Revotron unit that also does duty on the Tata Bolt. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and an automated manual transmission (AMT).

As far as the Tata Tiago's dual tone interior goes, it comes across as relatively modernized. The Tiago's cabin sports piano black accents, a hexagonal centre console with a chrome strip running under the AC vents, a 3-spoke steering-wheel, and silver housing for the instrument cluster.
