Tesla Model Y Production In Berlin GigaFactory To Start In October

- The Model Y is expected to overtake the Model 3 in sales
- Tesla has already started production of the car in its China gigafactory
- Tesla was supposed to start operations in July
Tesla has revealed that it will start the production of the Model Y which soon will be its best selling model at its Berlin gigafactory which has been under construction for a while. It has been said that production will start later this year in October, pending government approval. Earlier, the Model Y was slated for production in July, but as always, there were delays related to approvals and supply chain issues.
"We're looking forward to hopefully getting the approval to make the first cars maybe in October if we are fortunate," said Elon Musk, during a site tour with Armin Laschet, who is the German Conservative party's candidate to succeed Angela Merkel as the Chancellor of the country.

Musk hasn't been happy with regulations that have caused delays in the gigafactory getting down to business. Laschet has reportedly also agreed with Musk and said that the regulations are too stringent.
"Sometimes one has the impression that inventing something new is technologically easier than dismantling bureaucracy in Germany," he said.
Musk also announced that Tesla will host a county fair and factory tour on October 9. The Model Y will be the first model that gets manufactured at the facility and will likely feature a new mega cast and battery pack. Tesla has already started manufacturing the Model Y in its China gigafactory.
Tesla has also announced that the production of the Cybertruck and semi-truck have been delayed for 2022. It has also pushed back the launch of the new Roadster to 2023.
Tesla has always had a chequered history with regulators across the world and recently Musk also criticised the regulations around the import of EVs in India.
