Two-Wheeler Sales December 2017: Hero Ends Year With 43 Per Cent Growth

- Hero sold a total of 7.2 lakh units in 2017, which is a record
- The company sold over 3 lakh units on the day of Dhanteras itself
- Hero sold 4,72,731 units in December 2017
Hero MotoCorp capped off 2017 with a flourish with 4,72,731 units sold in December 2017, which is a 43 per cent growth over the 3,30,202 units sold in December 2016. For the period of April-December 2017, the company sold 55,85,558 units which is a growth of 11 per cent over the corresponding period in 2016, where it sold 50,42,435 units. And finally, the company crossed the mark of 7 million unit sales in 2017 with 72,07,363 units sold. This is the first time Hero has crossed the 7 million unit sales mark in a calendar year.

Despite the challenging industry environment, we successfully created a series of benchmarks, not only for the Indian market but also for the global automotive industry. Starting with our first global product launch in Argentina in January, we have continued to delight the customers with our technologically-advanced and youthful range of new two-wheelers. This has clearly been reflected in the strong demand pattern for our motorcycles and scooters. We are now entering the last quarter of this fiscal with a strong focus on the premium segment and scooters and we are confident of sustaining our growth momentum."
Hero recently introduced three updated motorcycles in the 2018 models of the Super Splendor, Passion Pro and the Passion XPro and will launching these motorcycles across India in a phased manner from January 2018 onwards. The company also recorded a massive 3 lakh unit sales on the day of Dhanteras this year along with over 2 million unit sales in the festive period in 2017. Also, in the month of September 2017, the company sold over 7.2 lakh units, becoming the first ever manufacturer to achieve the feats listed.
