Royal Enfield has reported overall sales of 58,838 motorcycles in January 2022, in both domestic and export markets, a decline of 15 per cent against sales of 68,887 motorcycles in the same month last year. This, Royal Enfield says, is despite production being impacted by the onset of the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing shortage of semiconductor chips. However, the company has described strong growth in overseas markets, and has reported the highest-ever monthly exports, continuing what it says is a stellar run in international markets.

Exports are growing strong for Royal Enfield across different markets.

While domestic market sales of motorcycles declined by 23 per cent, to 49,726 motorcycles in January 2022, compared to 64,372 motorcycles despatched in the same month a year ago. In overseas markets, Royal Enfield despatched 9,112 units, the highest-ever monthly exports, and a whopping 102 per cent increase over the same month a year ago, when Royal Enfield had exported 4,515 motorcycles.

Overall sales volumes in the April 2021 to January 2022 remained flat, but exports recorded an impressive 130 per cent growth in the same period.

In the April 2021 to January 2022 period, overall sales volumes of Royal Enfield remained flat, with 4,75,431 motorcycles despatched in the period, compared to 4,76,633 units in the same period a year ago. Domestic market sales declined 8 per cent during this period, from 4,48,441 units during April 2020 to January 2021, to 4,10,624 units during the April 2021 to January 2022 period.

The new Royal Enfield Classic 350 is now being pushed to overseas markets across the world.

The silver lining is the export volumes during this period, which grew a massive 130 per cent, from just 28,192 motorcycles in the April 2020 to January 2021 period, to 64,807 motorcycles during the April 2021 to January 2022 period.
