Upcoming Maruti Suzuki YFG Compact SUV Spotted Testing In India

Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to launch a slew of new and updated models in India this financial year and we already know that SUVs are going to be the mainstay for the Indian automaker. The company has already introduced the new Baleno, Ertiga and XL6 this year and soon even the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is expected to get a major revamp. But the model that has got us really excited is the company's new Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos rival- codenamed YFG. Spy images of the Maruti Suzuki YFG have surfaced online and it's the same model that's being developed by Toyota and will be shared with Maruti Suzuki.

The new compact SUV will be underpinned by Toyota's and Daihatsu's new-gen architecture (DNGA).
These pictures have surfaced online for the second time and previously both Maruti's and Toyota's test mules were spotted testing together. Despite the heavy camouflage, elements like the split headlamp set-up and silver alloy wheels are quite apparent and the SUV has a beefy and upright stance. Quite obviously, there will be design changes on the Toyota badged model which will be in line with its new family looks, just like we have see on the new Toyota Glanza.

The test mule has an upright and beefy stance and gets silver alloy wheels.
The new compact SUV will be underpinned by Toyota's and Daihatsu's new-gen architecture (DNGA), which is basically a derivative of the TNGA platform that spawns models like the Camry in India. Essentially, it is a cost-efficient version of the TNGA platform, developed to underpin smaller cars. In terms of features, we expect the new SUV to offer all modern-age creature comforts like wireless charging, ventilated seats and connected car suit among others.
