- The Tata Punch micro SUV will be launched during this feative season
- The new entry-level SUV will be positioned below the Tata Nexon.
It was last week that Tata Motors officially revealed its upcoming micro SUV and christened it the Punch. The home-grown automaker dropped the front image of the SUV only revealing the front section, which gave us a fair idea of how the car looks. However, the rear profile remained under wraps at that point. Now a new image of the upcoming Tata Punch has been released, and this time around, we get to see the rear section of the SUV.

As seen in the picture, the mini SUV gets a neatly sculpted tailgate featuring the company branding in the centre. The SUV also gets wraparound LED taillights with tri-arrow patterns, high set rear bumper, roof-mounted stop lamp, black cladding, raked windscreen and more. Upfront, the new Tata Punch looks like the baby Safari with its aggressive front end that features a signature split lighting design. The aesthetic appeal is underlined by a three tri-arrow pattern, flanked by the LED DRLs, while the main headlamp units are placed below, which will come with projector lights.
The new Tata Punch will be the first SUV to be built on the ALFA-ARC (Agile Light Flexible Advanced Architecture), and it adores the Impact 2.0 design language. It will be positioned below the Nexon subcompact SUV in the line-up. The production version has not deviated much from the concept, as the carmaker had previously confirmed that around 90 per cent of the styling elements would be retained.

The all-new Tata Punch will be the first SUV to be underpinned by the ALFA-ARC platform.

The mechanical details are still under wraps. However, we expect the new Punch to come with the 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine, which also powers the Altroz premium hatchback. The motor is tuned to make 85 bhp and 113 Nm of power figures. It is likely to come with a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard and an optional AMT unit. When launched, the new Tata Punch will compete with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Ignis, and even the Renault Kwid.
