Volkswagen Virtus Bags Over 4,000 Pre-Bookings, Higher Demand For 1.0-Litre TSI

- The Volkswagen Virtus is priced between Rs. 11.21-17.91 lakh

- 60 per cent of the demand comes for the more accessible 1.0 TSI versions
The Volkswagen Virtus has just been launched and the new model's innings seem to have kicked off on a positive note. The compact sedan has garnered over 4,000 pre-bookings before the launch. Ashish Gupta, Brand Director - Volkswagen Passenger Cars India, confirmed the development to carandbike on the sidelines of the launch. The new Volkswagen Virtus compact sedan is priced from Rs. 11.22 lakh for the Comfortline trim, going up to Rs. 17.92 lakh for the GT Line trim. All prices are ex-showroom, India.

The Volkswagen Virtus is offered with the 1.0-litre TSI and 1.5-litre TSI engine options
Gupta also revealed that about 60 per cent of the bookings have come for the 1.0-litre TSI version of the car, while 15 per cent of the bookings have come online. The Virtus is also offered in the single 1.5-litre TSI GT Performance Line trim that seems to be garnering the rest of the demand. Volkswagen is offering the sedan in fewer but more loaded variants with only 4 variants on sale. The 1.0-litre TSI engine is offered in the Comfortline, Highline and Topline variants with manual and automatic transmissions, while the GT Line arrives in a single fully-loaded spec with the 1.5-litre TSI and the 7-speed DSG. That said, it will be interesting to see how Virtus holds the sales momentum going forward.

The Volkswagen Virtus has plenty of equipment and the driving chops to offer. It is the longest car in its class and definitely looks handsome from all angles. The sedan gets a dual-tone black and beige interior, red highlights on the Performance line, a large 10.1-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with a fully digital virtual instrument cluster, and a flat-bottom steering wheel. There's also a wireless phone charger, ventilated front seats, automatic climate control, rear air-con vents, and an electric sunroof. The Virtus comes with a class-leading 521-litre of boot space.

Volkswagen claims a fuel efficiency figure of 19.40 kmpl on the 1.0 TSI manual and 18.12 kmpl on the 1.0 TSI automatic. The 1.5 TSI DSG returns 18.67 kmpl. All figures are ARAI certified. The automaker also claims a maintenance cost starting at just Rs. 0.40 per km for 60,000 km for about four years. The model comes with a 4 years/100,000 warranty as standard, along with 4-year roadside assistance. You also get the option to extend the warranty up to 7 years/125,000 km along with service value packages depending on your needs.
