Volvo C40 Recharge Electric SUV India Launch In 2023

Volvo Cars India has commenced its electric journey in India with the launch of the Volvo XC40 Recharge today, priced at Rs. 55.90 lakh (ex-showroom, India). However, during the price announcement, the Scandinavian carmaker also revealed its plan to introduce its second electric SUV, the Volvo C40 Recharge in India, by 2023. The Volvo C40 Recharge electric SUV is built at Volvo's manufacturing plant in Ghent, Belgium, and will arrive in India via the CBU (Complete Built-Up) route. Globally, the Volvo C40 Recharge went on sale last year.

Like the Volvo XC40 and Polestar 2, the Volvo C40 Recharge is based on the CMA platform. It offers the benefits of an SUV but with a lower and sleeker design. The rear of the Volvo C40 Recharge features a rear-end design to go with the lower roof line, while the new front design introduces a new face for electric Volvo and includes headlights with state-of-the-art pixel technology.

Like the Volvo XC40 Recharge, the Volvo C40 Recharge comes with one of the best infotainment systems on the market, jointly developed with Google and based on the Android operating system
Inside, the Volvo C40 Recharge provides a high seating position that most Volvo drivers prefer, while it is available with colour and deco options unique to the model. It is also the first Volvo model to be completely leather-free.
Volvo C40 Recharge can be fast-charged from 10 to 80 per cent in about 40 minutes via a 150 kW DC fast charger.

Like the Volvo XC40 Recharge, the Volvo C40 Recharge comes with one of the best infotainment systems on the market, jointly developed with Google and based on the Android operating system. It provides consumers with Google apps and services built in, such as Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Play. Volvo states that the car has a trunk space of 413 litres, and a frunk which also has 31 litres of storage space - which is another metric that's identical to the Volvo XC40 Recharge.
The Volvo C40 Recharge will be positioned below the Volvo XC40 Recharge and is a part of Volvo's strategy of focusing on just EVs by 2030.

At the heart of the Volvo C40 Recharge, is a twin electric motor set-up, one on the front and one on the rear axle, powered by a 78-kWh battery that can be fast-charged from 10 to 80 per cent in about 40 minutes via a 150 kW DC fast charger. It offers an anticipated range of around 420 km. It delivers 408 bhp and 660 Nm of torque. The Volvo C40 Recharge will be positioned below the Volvo XC40 Recharge and is a part of Volvo's strategy of focusing on just EVs by 2030.
