After unveiling the all new hatchback 'Bolt' and sub-4 metre sedan 'Zest' on February 3rd, Tata Motors has put both the vehicles at this year's Auto Expo, along with 16 other new vehicles and concepts. The company says that both the new vehicles are primarily based on the 'DesigNext, DriveNext and ConnectNext' elements.
Built upon a completely enhanced X1 platform, the Bolt Hatchback and Zest sedan are designed jointly by Tata Motors' design studios based out of Pune, Coventry (UK) and Turin (Italy). Both the cars have been developed keeping global requirements in mind, and will be launched in India this year, and subsequently in other countries.
Both the cars feature Tata's signature grille, with the new Humanity line flowing into the headlamps. The flowing lines add more appeal to the cars. The Zest additionally has projector headlmaps with chrome accents. The Bolt has floating roof spoiler. Inside the cabin, the dashboard features premium chorme embellishment, while the instrument cluster and the central AC vents are connected in a single wing-shaped graphics.
Powering both the vehicles will be the segment-first, turbocharged intercooled multi-point fuel injected (MPFi) petrol engine, Revotron 1.2T, which churns out a maximum power output of 84bhp. While the diesel models of both the cars will feature the fiat-sourced 1.3-litre mill, capable of developing 90PS with 200Nm of peak torque. Moreover, the Zest has also become country's first compact sedan to feature Automated Manual Transmission.
