Auto Expo 2016: Indian Roadmaster Unveiled

Power on the 2016 Indian Roadmaster comes from a 111 cubic inch or 1811cc V-Twin engine that produces a whopping 161Nm of peak torque and is paired to a 6-speed gearbox. The engine is fed by a closed loop 54mm fuel injection system. The luxury cruiser gets hefty telescopic forks at the front and a single shock absorber at the rear, while braking performance comes courtesy of the dual 300mm front discs with four-piston calipers and 300mm single rear disc with two-piston calipers.
While the 1940s inspired styling is the usual high point on the Indian Roadmaster, the cruiser also comes with several features including keyless ignition, leather seats with heater, integrated audio system with Bluetooth connectivity, Pathfinder LED lights, remote locking, hard saddle bags and an electronically adjustable windscreen.
The Indian Roadmaster uses 16-inch cast alloys wrapped with a 130/90 section tyre up front and a 180/60 section multi-compound tyre at the rear sourced from the Dunlop Elite 3 range. The 20.8-litre fuel tank allows for a decent travel range while the 673mm seat height makes it accommodating for riders of all heights. That said, maneuvering the 639 kg cruiser will take some skill. Indian is expected to introduce the Roadmaster later this year with an expected price tag between Rs. 35-40 lakhs (ex-showroom).
In addition to the 2016 Indian Roadmaster, the Polaris owned bike manufacturer has also showcased its current lineup inclusive of the Indian Chief Dark Horse, Chief Classic, Chief Vintage, Indian Scout and Chieftain. The new and affordable Scout Sixty was expected to be launched, but the model won't be coming any time soon it seems.
