Bajaj Dominar Non-ABS Variant Discontinued

- Bajaj sells about 1500 Dominar bikes every month
- 80 per cent of Dominar buyers seek standard ABS
- Bajaj Dominar is exported to SE Asia and Latin America
Bajaj Auto has decided to discontinue the Bajaj Dominar non-ABS variant, since more than 80 per cent of Dominar buyers sought standard ABS. Only 20 per cent of Dominar buyers preferred the non-ABS variant, so Bajaj decided to discontinue the non-ABS variant of the Dominar. The Dominar is Bajaj Auto's flagship motorcycle and was launched in December 2016. It uses the same 373 cc single-cylinder engine as the KTM 390 Duke. But the engine on the Dominar has been re-tuned to change the torque curve and power output is also lower at 34.5 bhp, with a peak torque of 35 Nm.

The Bajaj Dominar has decent handling and touring capability and won the NDTV Two Wheeler Of The Year for 2018

In fact, the Bajaj Dominar won the prestigious NDTV CarandBike Award for the Two Wheeler of the Year for 2018, as well as Premium Motorcycle of the Year and Viewer's Choice Bike of the Year for 2018. Bajaj Auto is one of the largest motorcycle exporters of India and the Dominar is already exported to Bajaj Auto's existing export markets including South East Asia and Latin America.

Despite being a well-rounded product, the Bajaj Dominar hasn't been able to sell in large numbers
Bajaj Auto positions the Dominar as a power cruiser, but it's essentially designed to be a 'do-it-all' motorcycle with everyday usability and decent touring capability as well. The Dominar comes equipped with twin-channel ABS, and is priced at Rs. 1.56 lakh (ex-showroom). The Dominar was primarily positioned against the Royal Enfield Classic 350, but Bajaj Auto soon realised that traditional Royal Enfield buyers were not shifting to the Dominar, despite it being a well-equipped, well-priced product. Although Bajaj had initially targeted sales of 10,000 Dominars every month, so far, in the domestic market, the Dominar has been able to sell an average of just 1500 bikes every month across India.
