Bajaj Posts Highest Ever Quarterly Profit in Q2

- It recorded the highest ever profit after tax of Rs. 1,123 crore in Q2-17
- Bajaj CT 100 and Bajaj Platina were the big sellers along with Bajaj V15
- The sales of Bajaj V15 hit the 1.6 lakh unit mark since its launch
Bajaj Auto is on a roll and has reported best-ever sales figures in the second quarter of the current financial year. In the April – September 2016 period, Bajaj reported highest ever turnover of Rs 6,774 crore, also posting the highest-ever profit after tax (PAT) of Rs 1,123 crore. 
Overall, Bajaj’s motorcycle sales grew by over 23 per cent in the quarter, as against an industry growth of 17 per cent. The big sellers were the Bajaj CT100 and the Bajaj Platina, of which 251,000 units were sold. The market share for that segment was approximately 35 per cent (with these two motorcycles combined). Also, all the variants of the Pulsars along with the new range of Avengers sold over 231,000 units between April and September, 2016.

The sales of Bajaj V15 hit the 1.6 lakh unit mark from its launch date. It sold over 61,000 units in Q2 FY2016-17 itself. The KTM division along with the Ninja, saw a growth of 16 per cent in the same period.
The commercial vehicles sales too saw the highest ever sales figure for Q2 with 149,587 units sold. Bajaj’s commercial vehicles division saw a growth of 11 per cent as compared to an industry growth rate of 6 per cent. The Bajaj CV division still continues to be the market leader in its segment with a share of approximately 52 per cent in the domestic market. The market share for Q2 last fiscal was 47 per cent. Bajaj is also the market leader in small diesel carriers with a share of a whopping 71 per cent in the domestic market. Its share in big diesel carriers is about 23 per cent. Bajaj CV is also holds a massive share of 89 per cent the ‘In-city’ category.
It is not only India but Bajaj Auto is also going strong in international markets. Its export volumes increased from 370,000 units in the first quarter of the current fiscal to over 378,000 units in the second quarter of FY2017.
