First Tata Altroz Hatchback Rolls Off The Assembly Line; Launch In January 2020

Tata Motors has rolled off the first Altroz premium hatchback from the assembly line at the automaker's Chakan-based facility in Maharashtra. The upcoming model will be launched in January this year and is the second offering to sport the new Impact 2.0 design language. The new Tata Altoz is the first model to be based on the new ALFA architecture and will take on the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Honda Jazz and the Hyundai i20. The Altroz started life as the Tata 45X concept and was first showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo. The near-production model was later revealed at the Geneva Motor Show in March this year, and the production-spec version remains identical to the same.

Commenting on the roll-out, Mayank Pareek, President, Passenger Vehicle Business Unit (PVBU), Tata Motors said, "We are thrilled to roll-out yet another class defining product from the plant today. The Altroz is our first product that will be launched on the all-new ALFA platform and we believe that it will raise the bar for vehicles across the premium hatchback segment, come 2020. Since the unveiling of the concept in 2018, the anticipation for Altroz has always been high. We hope that customers will appreciate the new futuristic design with a host of smart features, many of which are one segment above."
The Tata Altroz marks the automaker's entry into an all-new segment and a demanding one at that. The model will be sold with the 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine options that will be BS6 compliant from the start. The model will also be loaded on the feature front and is expected to get the large touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, navigation, a fantastic audio system and more. The car is also expected to get a semi-digital instrument console along the lines of the Tata Harrier.

Other features on the Tata Altroz will include the automatic headlamps and rain-sensing wipers, keyless entry, push-button start-stop, cruise control, puddle lamps and more. Tata is known to keep prices extremely competitive and expect its new hatchback to get an equally aggressive pricing strategy undercutting most rivals. We will be driving the new Altroz very soon, so make sure to watch out for our comprehensive review.
