Formula E: Mahindra Racing's Alex Lynn Takes Maiden Victory In Second London E-Prix

- Alex Lynn was promoted to the victory afer di Grassi's qualification
- Lucas di Grassi was disqualified for not serving drive-through penalty
- This is Mahindra Racing's fifth victory in Formula E
Mahindra Racing's Alex Lynn secured his first-ever victory in Formula E in the second London E-Prix bringing the weekend to a spectacular end. This was Lynn's home race and the racer continued to maintain fantastic momentum from the first race on Saturday that saw the driver on the podium. This also marked the team's first victory of the season. The win did come amidst a chaotic race after on-the-road winner Lucas di Grassi was penalised for pitting under the safety car and not serving the drive-through penalty.

Lucas di Grassi originally took the victory while Alex Lynn ran second at the end of the 30 lap race. However, di Grassi had been running eighth when a second safety car was called in the race after Antonio Felix and Andre Lotterer had a collision at Turn 1. In a bid to avoid the slow-moving train, di Grassi decided to use the pitlane with its 50 kmph speed limit and even briefly stopped in the Audi box before rejoining the race in the lead ahead of Mercedes' Stoffel Vandoorne.
However, the stewards said that di Grassi did not stop long enough in the box, making his actions illegal. The driver was given a drive-through penalty, which he didn't serve. As a result, the driver was given a black flag, disqualifying him from the race. However, the Audi team protested against the decision lobbying the stewards to overturn the penalty prior to the chequered flag. The stewards though upheld the disciplinary action and converted the drive-through penalty into a time penalty, dropping the driver to P8 in the final results.

This ensured that Lynn managed to secure his maiden Formula E win and the fifth-ever for Mahindra Racing. The victory also comes at a time when Lynn has been dropped by the team for the next season. Joining Lynn on the podium was Nyck de Vries of Mercedes taking second place by six-tenths of a second. Jaguar's Mitch Evans completed the podium.
Virgin's Robin Frijns and Pascal Wehrlein's Porsche secured fourth and fifth respectively, while BMW driver Maximilian Gunther claimed sixth in the race. Nick Cassidy secured seventh ahead of di Grassi, while Sergio Sette Camara of Penske and Jake Dennis of BMW took who had to take a drive-through penalty late on.
