Honda Unveils the CD 110 Dream - Its Cheapest Bike

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI), the two-wheeler arm of the Japanese auto major, announced its expansion plans today. The company also announced the addition of a third motorcycle to the Dream Series - the CD 110 Dream. Priced at Rs. 41,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi), the CD 110 Dream will become the most affordable Honda motorcycle in India upon its launch. We have been told that the bike will be launched by August, 2014.
The CD110 is Honda's product for the 110-110cc sub-segment, which seems to be in full bloom and currently accounts for 23% of the total of 70 lakh bikes sold in the country every year. The company sold around 7.3 lakh units in the last fiscal and aims to take that figure up to 8 lakh units this year.
Since the primary focus of the 100-110cc segment's audience is mileage, Honda considered it befitting to use Honda Eco Technology (HET) on the CD 110. It claims that this technology endows the bike with an impressive fuel efficiency of 74Km/l. The company further added that the new bike will offer a class-leading power output of 8.25bhp and 8.63Nm of torque.
Other than the announcement about the CD 110 Dream's impending launch, Honda also discussed its current position in the domestic market and roadmap for the future. Here's what you need to know:
1. Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India will adopt the global Honda 2 Wheeler logo, thus marking a shift in its corporate identity.
