Mahindra U321 MPV Spied With Production Parts; Launch Later This Year

- The U321 gets Mahindra's signature chrome toothed grille
- The U321 gets large horizontal projector headlamps and stylish alloys
- The Mahindra U321 MPV will rival the likes of Toyota Innova Crysta
Images of yet another test mule of Mahindra's upcoming MPV, codenamed U321, have surfaced online and this time around we get to see the MPV in some production-ready parts. While still draped in heavy camouflage, the Mahindra U321 now reveals its new grille featuring chrome tooth-like design elements on black mesh. The headlamps also look production ready with large projector units and integrated turn signal lights, while the LED daytime running lights and placed lower with the foglamps, housed in the front bumper.
The rest of the MPV looks similar to the previously seen prototype unit. In fact, it's also running the same alloys that the earlier test mule was seen in, which could mean that these could be the production-spec wheels. The U321 also comes with a pair of large outside rear-view mirror and, based on the earlier spy images, we know that the MPV will also get a pair of vertically stacked LED taillamps and a large tailgate.
The Mahindra U321 will also come with a newly designed cabin with a well-laid-out dashboard. The MPV will come equipped with a touchscreen infotainment system, piano black panel, dual tone interior, new steering wheel and automatic climate control among others. The cabin is likely to offer a seven-seater layout and maybe an optional eight-seater version and expected to get AC vents for all three rows. On the engine front, the MPV could feature an all-new 1.6-litre diesel engine along with a petrol unit. The engines are likely to come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and an optional 6-speed automatic transmission.
The upcoming U321 MPV will be Mahindra's third product to be built on the company's monocoque chassis, which currently underpins the XUV500 and KUV100. The production version of the U321 is expected to be launched later this year, possibly around the festive season and is likely to be launched before Mahindra's upcoming SsangYong Tivoli based flagship SUV.
