Mahindra U321 MPV Spy Shot Shows New Alloy Wheel Design

Maihndra has been eyeing entering the MPV space yet again with a new car that promises to be more capable, better looking and even well equipped. The spy shots that we've shown you give us a general idea about the exterior design as also what the cabin will be like. While we thought that the company would showcase the MPV at the Auto Expo 2018, we were surprised to not see it there. However, the launch is just around the corner we are told but meanwhile, Mahindra continues to test the car and this time it was caught wearing new alloy wheels.

The new alloy wheel design points out to a new trim level in the Mahindra MPV
The wheels are different from what we've seen earlier. We've seen the test mule of the U321 MPV sport 5-split-spoke alloy wheels, however, the one in the picture rides on 6-split-spoke two-tone rims, which points out to the fact that this could be the top-of-the-line variant. We got a chance to take a closer look at the cabin too and saw that it will be well-equipped with a new dashboard and an all-new three-spoke steering wheel.

While we do not see any steering mounted buttons here, the production version is likely to get audio and telephony controls, especially the range-topping models. The U321 also gets a large twin pot instrument cluster with a horizontal digital display at the centre displaying a host of information. The MPV also features large air-con vents, fabric upholstery, dual tone beige and black interior panels and more.

The exterior design of the MPV is something that we've already seen in the past
Essentially a rival to the Toyota Innova Crysta, the upcoming Mahindra U321 is rumoured to be a replacement for the currently selling Mahindra Xylo, but there has been no such confirmation from the company yet. Having said that, the U321 will be larger than the Xylo MPV and will come in a 7-seater or an 8-seater layout with several premium touches, like - leather interiors, automatic climate control, rear parking camera, keyless entry and more.
The exterior design gets Mahindra's signature chrome toothed grille with horizontal headlamps equipped with projector lights and LED daytime running lights. Other features could include an electric sunroof, sporty alloy wheels, plastic underbody cladding and more.
Under the hood, the Mahindra U321 MPV is expected to feature the company's tried and tested 2.2-litre mHawk engine with some minor tuning suitable for an MPV. However, one cannot rule out a 1.6-litre diesel unit which the company has co-developed with Ssangyong.
