Mahindra's SUV Production Drops 5.3% In November 2021 Month-On-Month

The homegrown automaker Mahindra & Mahindra has announced production numbers for the month of November 2021. The Indian UV maker produced 18,261 units last month, registering a marginal Year-on-Year growth of 0.7 per cent compared to 18,119 vehicles manufactured in November 2020. Compared to 19,286 SUVs produced in October 2021, the UV maker recorded a Month-on-Month drop of 5.3 per cent. In November 2021, the company announced that it has witnessed a production loss of 32,000 units across its portfolio in the second quarter of 2021 due to the ongoing semiconductor shortage.

Last month, Mahindra produced 1,317 units of electric three-wheelers in India
As for three-wheelers and light commercial vehicles, the company manufactured 420 units last month, registering a double-digit drop of 89.6 per cent against 4,046 units in the corresponding month in 2020.
In November 2021, the company manufactured 1,317 units of Treo electric three-wheeler in India, which is a growth of 62.7 per cent compared to 809 units produced in November 2020. Production of Commercial Vehicles declined to 15,742 units in November 2021, recording a drop of 21.4 per cent compared to 20,040 units in the same month last year.

As for sales, Mahindra's overall auto sales (passenger vehicles+ commercial vehicles+ exports) for November 2021 stood at 40,102 units compared to 42,731 vehicles sold in the same month last year, recording a Year-on-Year (YoY) decline of 6.15 per cent. However, the Utility Vehicle (UV) segment accounted for 19,384 units last month, registering an 8 per cent growth compared to 17,971 vehicles sold in November 2020. The company also exported 3101 units from India in November 2021, out of which SUVs accounted for 656 units.
