MG Motor Temporarily Stops Accepting Bookings For The Hector

- MG Motors has received over 21,000 bookings for the Hector.
- It is in talks with its suppliers to ramp up production.
- MG is planning to ramp up production to 3000 units per month by October.
MG Motor has had quite a banging start with the Hector. It's just been 45 days since it's been launched in India and MG has already bagged over 21,000 bookings for the Hector. Given the increase in booking numbers, the company has temporarily stopped accepting booking for the Hector in a bid to ensure timely delivery to those customers who have already booked the car in advance. However, the company has said that it is in talks with its suppliers to ramp up production.

The MG Hector is India's first connected car and according to the company, it's the biggest takeaway for customers.Rajeev Chaba, President & MD- MG Motor India said, "Our first product, MG HECTOR, has received an overwhelming response and we are unable to cater to such high initial demand. We are, therefore, closing bookings temporarily as this will help ensure timely and orderly deliveries for our customers who have shown tremendous confidence in MG. We are also working with our component suppliers to ramp up production in a gradual manner without any compromise on quality."

The MG Hector is sold in India in four variants and petrol variants have garnered over 50 per cent of the bookings.MG Motor had started accepting pre-bookings for the Hector on June 4 and it was launched on June 28. The MG Hector SUV is sold in India in four variants- Style, Super, Smart and Sharp and it is the first connected car in its segment which according to the company is the biggest takeaway for customers. The top two variants - Smart and Sharp are the most in-demand variants and petrol variants have garnered over 50 per cent bookings. MG Motor has started operations with 120 dealerships in India and this figure will go up to 250 dealerships in September. The company is planning to increase production for the Hector at its Halol manufacturing facility to 3,000 units per month by October this year.
