New Mahindra Scorpio Facelift - Everything You Want to Know

Mahindra & Mahindra, the Indian automajor, has been seen testing the Scorpio facelift across India, thus hinting at its probable launch during the festive season. Though the company hasn't made an official statement about the changes the Scorpio facelift is likely to receive, spy shots of the vehicle suggest some major upgrades to both, its interiors and exteriors.
Exterior
It will get cosmetic upgrades like new headlamps, revised grille and differently designed front bumper, a move that will render its front fascia much more aggressive and sportier than before. Rumour has it that the facelifted Scorpio will sport HID/projector headlamps instead of regular bulbs. Though the Scorpio facelift's side profile will remain largely unchanged, new alloys will definitely add to its overall appeal.
Interior
The company seems to have focussed equally well on the car's interiors, and has given the 2014 Scorpio's interiors quite an up-market feel. Expect the updated model to get a redacted dashboard, richer upholstery, a revised steering wheel along with newly designed AC vents.
Features
Though there is no firm news about the new features the updated Scorpio will get, we expect it to receive an upgraded music player along with a touchscreen infotainment system. The SUV might also borrow some features from the XUV500.
Engine options
Since this is a mid-life facelift, we are not expecting the car to receive any changes under the hood. However, Mahindra might tune its engines for an even more refined performance and better efficiency. The Scorpio currently derives its power from a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel unit capable of churning out a maximum power of 120bhp. The other diesel engine - 2.5-litre m2DiCR 75bhp - is also expected to stay on offer. It is offered with transmission options: a six-speed automatic and a five-speed manual.
Expected Launch
Since the festive season is considered to be the best time to launch a car in India, we strongly believe that the updated Scorpio will arrive either in August or September.
