SAEINDIA to Commence 2016 SUPRA in Partnership With Maruti Suzuki

- The event will start held at Buddh International Circuit
- It will held from 4-9 July, 2016
- 150 teams will be participating at this year's SAEINDIA SUPRA
The SUPRA SAE India is a premier Formula Student competition which will be held at Buddh International Circuit from 4-9 July, 2016. SUPRA (Short for Super Racing) is a part of the government's automotive mission plan and is a great platform for students to showcase their engineering prowess in terms of designing a formula car and seeing it through all the various tests and races that it is put through. SAE India believes it provides for a great hands-on experience for all the budding engineers. The SAE SUPRA makes for challenging and a practical experience in the fields of manufacturing, production and the overall design of the vehicle is also evaluated for profitability and market relevance. A panel of jury members from Germany and Russia will be judging the vehicles participating in the event. The overall winner's trophy will go to the team with combination of design, construction, financial planning and performance is the best.
Maruti Suzuki has been the title sponsor for this event ever since it made its debut in 2011. This year again, it will be a part of the event as the title sponsor. Speaking on the occasion, R S Kalsi, executive director, marketing & sales, Maruti Suzuki India said, "We had first collaborated with SUPRA SAEINDIA in 2011 to encourage budding talent in motorsports and engineering. To conceptualize, design, fabricate and run a Formula prototype car from start to finish, provides great hands-on experience. Through this effort, Maruti Suzuki is bridging the gap between academia and industry. We are confident this exposure will enhance employability of young students in the industry and prepare them for challenging assignments."
This time, the SUPRA SAE has got over 150 teams as participants, with over 3,750 students making up these teams. There is also an all-women's team which will be participating this year at SUPRA. Also, there will be an award for the best woman participant as well.
