Highlights

Tata Motors launched the Zest and Bolt with high expectations, but their sales numbers have been very disappointing. Both the products recorded their worst ever monthly sales in April 2015. While the company sold 1989 units of the Zest in April 2015, the Bolt hatchback's sales stood at 633 units in the month. And this is despite the fact that the company has been promoting both the products heavily both on internet and television media.

In the first four months of this calendar year, a total of 6494 units of the Bolt were sold, which is about half the sales of ageing Indica + Vista. In the last four months, the company sold 11,480 units of Indica and Vista. The case is no different with the Zest as well, as against Indigo + Manza's 10796 units in the last four months, a total of 9520 units of the Zest have been sold in the market.

Though the sales numbers for both the new products isn't impressive, the company's passenger vehicles managed to record an impressive 37 per cent year-on-year rise in April 2015. The company's utility vehicles, on the other hand, continued to dip this month as well. The company saw a 27 per cent dip in UV sales.
