Tata Motors had promised at the last AutoExpo that they were going by introducing CNG variants of some of its cars. Their seriousness transformed into reality when we saw the emax (CNG) range of cars at the Horizonext event held in June this year.
And now Tata Motors have formally announced the launch of the first of the five brands in the emax range - the new Tata Nano CNG emax. The Nano CNG emax comes powered by a fuel efficient, state-of-the-art engine, with CNG and Petrol bi-fuel system options. Tata says that the mileage one could expect from CNG alone in 36km/kg. The Nano CNG emax will now be available across CNG markets like Delhi, Gujarat, parts of Maharashtra and Lucknow.
The car's CNG system is intelligently packaged for maximum luggage space and cylinders are smartly fitted under the front seats which do not intrude into passenger or luggage space. It also comes with leak detection sensors and interlock sensor that automatically ensures that the engine is switched off during CNG gas filling.
With the CNG technology, the Nano CNG emax offers a touring range of more than 150 km (in CNG), in addition to the existing touring range of 375 km (in petrol) which takes the tally to 500 km overall which is very impressive. But what it fails to get is a power steering, just like the other Nanos.

The Tata Nano CNG emax price range starts at Rs. 2.52 Lakhs, ex-showroom - Mumbai for the Nano CX and goes upto Rs. 2.77 Lakhs, ex-showroom - Mumbai for the Nano LX.
