Tata Tiago And Tigor CNG: What We Know So Far

- The Tata Tiago and Tigor CNG will go on sale in India this month.
- Both cars are expected to remain identical in terms of looks and features
- Under the hood, both models will get the same 1.2-litre engine.
Tata Motors is gearing up to launch the Tiago and Tigor CNG in India on January 19 and the new models will help the carmaker to tap on a new potential market. Given the steep hike in fuel prices last year, people are looking for alternatives to petrol and diesel powered vehicles and CNG have been quite in demand of late, especially in metro cities. Even the government has been giving a greater impetus on CNG fuel. Here's what we know so far about the upcoming Tata Tiago and Tigor CNG.

The Tata Tiago CNG will look identical to the standard model.
The Tata Tiago and Tigor CNG will be based on their standard petrol models. Both models will look identical to their facelifted petrol derivatives, save for the CNG badging.

Identical Features List

The Tata Tiago CNG will share creature comforts as well with its petrol derivative.
The Tata Tiago and Tigor CNG is expected to be offered in multiple variants and therefore is likely to share the features list with the respective variants of their standard derivatives. So we expect to see creature comforts like powered wing mirrors and JBL-Harmon sound system in top-end variants along with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity options.
Same Engine Options
In terms of powertrain options, we do not expect to see any changes. The models come powered by a 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine tuned to belt out 85 bhp and 113 Nm of peak torque. That said, we can expect a slight drop in power figures given the CNG conversion. Transmission duties are likely to be carried out by a five-speed manual gearbox as standard.
Bookings Open

The Tata Tigor CNG too was spotted testing.
As already mentioned, Tata Motors has confirmed launching both models on January 19 in India which is when we'll get to know their prices. The carmaker is charging a token amount of Rs. 5000 - Rs. 10,000 for the bookings depending on the location and variant.
