Tata To Upgrade Nano To Compete with Maruti Suzuki Alto and Hyundai Eon

HorizonNext saw Tata Motors take a path less travelled by. The company announced its intentions to transform its image and the only way to do that was significantly upgrade the products that they will be launching in India. The company had also said they they have a plan of launching 2 new cars per year and that plan is on track.
The Kite will be the first to hit the market but that is not the only plan the company has. The Kites will be all-new cars from Tatas but there is one more coming our way. This one is not new, but will be an upgrade and will be called the Pelican.
The Pelican is not a new car but a significant upgrade of the Nano, so a more powerful engine and from what our sources say, better to drive. The Pelican will slot between the Nano and the Kite and will receive a 1.0-litre petrol engine which is an upgrade from the 624cc, 2 cylinder one which does duty on the Nano.
There is also a diesel in the offing which will be an 800cc one but it is currently undergoing testing and more will be revealed soon. The Pelican will be based on the same chassis as the Nano but we expect it to come with some cosmetic changes.
The Pelican will go up against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 and the Hyundai Eon, who are already established players in the market and hence Tata knows how important this segment is and what an uphill task this will be.
