Upcoming Cars In India Between Rs. 5 Lakh - Rs. 10 Lakh

- Chevrolet has three cars lined up for launch in India in 2017 - 18
- Based on the Honda Jazz platform, the WR-V will be launched in March
- Tata's two upcoming cars will be launched in 2017
It's one of the most sought after segment in the country currently and cars that cost between Rs. 5 lakh - Rs. 10 lakh are in great demand currently. This is the reason why Maruti Suzuki already has its eyes set on this segment and with the launch of the Ignis, the company has given other manufacturers some food for thought. But the year is just beginning and there's a lot more to come and we've put together a list of cars that will be launched soon which will cost between Rs. 5-10lakh.
1. Honda WR-V
Honda WR-V Front
The Honda WR-V is on its way and yes it's a subcompact SUV from the Japanese car maker. Based on the Jazz, the new small SUV from Honda for India will be launched in March 2017 and Honda has had an official roll out ceremony at the Tapukara factory in Rajasthan, which we've told you about. Based on the Honda Jazz and Honda City platform, the WR-V will be much smaller than the BR-V and will get only 5 seats. The sub 4-metre compact SUV is also expected to be well equipped with the likes of a touchscreen, reverse parking sensors, reversing camera and inbuilt navigation. Also expect the top of the line spec car to come with a touchscreen climate control setup and Apple CarPlay or/and Android Auto. In terms of engines, the Honda Jazz and the Honda WR-V will share powertrains. The petrol engine will be a 1.2 litre 4-cylinder motor that will make 87 bhp of peak torque and 110 Nm of peak power. The diesel engine will be a 1.5 litre 4-cylinder turbocharged motor that will make 98 bhp or peak power and 200 Nm of peak torque.

2. New Chevrolet Beat
Undoubtedly among the most awaited upcoming cars in India, the new generation model of Chevrolet India's best-selling car will not feature a change of platform. It will also continue to come powered by the current model's range of engines, namely, the 1.2-litre petrol unit and the 1.0-litre diesel engine. It must be noted GM could also bring in a new 1.0-litre petrol engine for the carline.
Expected Launch: 2017
Expected Price: Rs. 4.5 lakh - Rs. 7 lakh
3. Chevrolet Beat Activ
After making an appearance at the 2016 Auto Expo, the Chevrolet Beat Activ is already being put through its paces in India. The Chevrolet Beat Activ 'soft-roader' is essentially a brawny version of the new Beat with additional body cladding, revised bumper, and roof rails. Though the automaker is yet to reveal any information about its engines, we expect it to borrow the current Beat's options: the 1.2-litre petrol and 1.0-litre diesel, both paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox.

4. Chevrolet Essentia
Showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi, the Essentia sub-compact sedan will be based on the same platform as the Chevrolet Beat Activ and the two are likely to share engine options too. We've already spotted the car testing and well we're hoping for the car to be launched soon.
Among the most important upcoming cars for the brand, General Motors plans to source at least 80 per cent of the parts for the Chevrolet Essentia. The sub-4 metre Essentia sedan will go up against names such as Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire, Ford Figo Aspire, Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent, Volkswagen Ameo, and the upcoming Tata Kite 5.

5. Datsun GO-Cross
Another 2016 Auto Expo debutant, the Datsun GO Cross is based on the GO+ MPV and sports a distinctive front end with a hexagonal grille, sweptback LED head-lamps, a brawny skid plate and plastic cladding. The five-seater crossover will borrow most of its elements from the GO+ including the 1.2-litre petrol unit. The the 1.5-litre dCi diesel engine, however, will be adopted from the Nissan Micra. Upon its launch, the Datsun GO Cross will compete with cars such as the Hyundai Active i20, Toyota Etios Cross, and the Fiat Avventura.

6. Maruti Suzuki Baleno RS
Ready to mark the automaker's entry into the hot hatch segment, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno RS will not receive many cosmetic upgrades. Instead, the primary change will be the 1.0-litre BoosterJet turbo petrol motor developing 110bhp and 170Nm of maximum torque. The engine will be mated to a CVT unit and perhaps a manual gearbox too.

7. New Maruti Suzuki Swift
New-Gen Maruti Suzuki Swift
Among Maruti Suzuki's best-selling hatchback, the new Swift will be underpinned by Suzuki's new generation platform. It will receive an extensive makeover both inside and out and feature a compartively sporty design and improved cabin. However, the new Maruti Swift will retain the current model's 1.2-litre K Series petrol and 1.3-litre MJD diesel engines. For transmission, it will be offered with a choice between a 5-speed manual and an AMT.

9. New Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire
The new Maruti Suzuki Swift's launch in India will be followed by the hatchback's sub-compact sedan. Like the new Swift, the new Maruti Swift Dzire will also be based on Suzuki's new platform. It will also share its design, features and engine options with the Swift hatchback.
Expected Launch: Late 2017/ 2018

8. Tata Tigor
The home-grown automaker's third sub-compact sedan, the Tata Tigor is based on the Tiago hatchback and also features design inputs from the company's design centres in Pune, Italy, and the UK. Other than a handful of design inputs, the Tata Kite 5 sedan will also adopt the Tiago's engines, namely, the 1.2-litre Revotron petrol and the 1.05-litre three-cylinder Revotorq diesel. Transmission duties will initially be tended to by only a 5-speed manual transmission with the introduction of an AMT equipped variant reserved for the future.

9. Tata Nexon SUV
Tata Motors' upcoming sub-compact SUV, Nexon, is claimed to have received its design inspiration from the Range Rover Evoque. With that said, the Tata Nexon looks largely similar to the concept except a few elements such as the bumpers and the wheels. The choice of engine on the Nexon will comprise a new 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel motor while transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and the F-Tronic AMT in all likelihood.
