The XSR155 adopts a retro-oriented design with a round LED headlamp, teardrop-shaped fuel tank and a flat bench seat. The neo-retro motorcycle is equipped with the same underpinnings as the R15 and MT-15, employing Yamaha’s Deltabox frame paired with upside-down front forks and a monoshock at the rear.
Powering the XSR155 is the same 155 cc liquid-cooled engine, producing 18.1 bhp and 14 Nm of torque. The unit is paired with a six-speed gearbox and features an assist-and-slipper clutch.

The motorcycle has a seat height of 810 mm and a ground clearance of 120 mm, while the fuel tank capacity is rated to be 10 litres.
