Auto Expo 2018: TVS To Unveil Bike, Scooter Concepts

TVS Motor Company will not launch any new production model at the Auto Expo 2018, but a few concepts are expected to be showcased. In all, TVS is expected to showcase three new concepts, including two scooters - one fully electric scooter and a hybrid scooter. The electric scooter has already undergone testing and is in an advanced prototype state at the moment, Carandbike has learnt. The full-sized electric scooter will share a lot of components with the existing scooter range, so expect to see similar design language as the current internal combustion engine scooters from TVS.
The electric scooter will be launched after its unveiling at the Auto Expo 2018. TVS will also showcase a hybrid scooter, which will be a combination of an internal combustion engine as well as an electric motor. Both the electric and hybrid scooters are expected to be priced at a slight premium than the current internal combustion engine scooters, but expect a lot of components, including the motor and batteries to be developed in-house by TVS Motor Company's R&D wing.
The third concept to be showcased at the Auto Expo 2018 will be a motorcycle. So far, no details are available on the kind of motorcycle concept TVS will unveil, but it may not be on the lines of the sporty motorcycles so far developed by TVS in the Apache series. In the last Auto Expo, TVS had showcased the Akula concept, which took production form in the Apache RR 310. TVS officials are still tight-lipped about any details on the motorcycle concept, but we expect it to be something which will be completely different from what we have seen in TVS' model range so far. More details will be available when TVS unveils the concepts at the Auto Expo 2018, but the writing is clear - TVS is serious about the EV space, and the electric and hybrid scooters will soon be launched as full-fledged production models.
