Auto Sales December 2021: Mahindra Auto Sees 11% Growth YoY

- In December 2021, Mahindra's total sales stood at 39,157 units
- Mahindra sold 17469 utility vehicles in December 2021
- Mahindra also exported 3,017 vehicles from India last month
Mahindra & Mahindra has released the monthly sales numbers for December 2021, during which, the company's total sales (passenger vehicles+ commercial vehicles+ exports) stood at 39,157 units. Compared to the 35,187 vehicles the company sold in December 2020, it witnessed a year-on-year growth of 11 per cent. At the same time, compared to the 40,102 vehicles sold in November 2021, Mahindra witnessed a marginal month-on-month decline of about 2 per cent. This does not include sales from the company tractor and farm equipment sector.
Commenting on the company's sales performance, Veejay Nakra, Chief Executive Officer, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra said, "We are glad to report an overall growth of 11 per cent in December 2021. We have seen growth in business segments including Passenger Vehicles, Commercial Vehicles and International Operations, owing to continued strong demand across the product portfolio. The issues around semi-conductor related parts continue to be a challenge for the industry and remains a major focus area for us".

Mahindra sold 17469 utility vehicles in December 2021
The company cumulative passenger vehicle sales, which includes utility vehicles, cars and vans, stood at 17,722 in December 2021. Compared to the 16,182 vehicles sold in December 2020, the company witnessed a 10 per cent growth in the domestic market. As for commercial vehicles, the company's cumulative sales from light, medium and heavy commercial vehicles stood at 15,938 units, a growth of 14 per cent compared to 13,930 units sold in December 2020.

At the same time, sales from the three-wheeler segment, including electric three-wheelers, stood at 2,480 units, a decline of 13 per cent compared to 2,865 vehicles sold during the same month in 2020. In December 2021, Mahindra also exported 3,017 vehicles from India. Compared to 2,210 vehicles exported in December 2020, the carmaker witnessed a good YoY growth of 37 per cent.
