Auto Sales May 2022: Tata Motors Registers Highest Ever Monthly Sales; Despatches 43,341 Units

- Tata Motors registers its highest ever sales in May 2022
- Tata also sold the highest number of EVs in a month
- Nexon brand registered its highest monthly sales in May 2022
Tata Motors' growth in sales continues as the company registered a massive 185 per cent year-on-year growth in its domestic passenger vehicle sales for the month of May 2022, with 15,181 units sold in May last year. This is the highest monthly PV (39,887 ICE + 3,454 EVs) sales registered by Tata ever, in addition to having the highest number of EV sales in a month. In addition, Tata also registered the highest ever monthly sales of the Nexon subcompact SUV and highest ever monthly sales in the compact SUV segment, that includes the Tata Harrier and the Tata Safari. If we consider month-on-month growth, Tata registered growth of 4.21 percent over sales of 41,587 units in April 2022.

Tata Motors registered total domestic sales of 31,414 units of commercial vehicles in May 2022, showing a significant growth of 235 per cent. Tata exported 1,404 units of commercial vehicles in May 2022, which is a 31 per cent drop over last year. The triple digit year-on-year growth for passenger and commercial vehicles should be taken with a pinch of salt as the base last year was low, with the second wave of the pandemic playing spoilsport with automotive sales across segments.
