Car Sales October 2021: Mahindra Records 8 Per Cent Sales Growth

Mahindra & Mahindra has recorded a growth of 8 per cent in sales last month selling 20,130 units in October 2021 as compared to 18,622 units which were sold in the same month a year ago. The uptick in Mahindra's sales comes at a time when the entire industry has been gripped by the semiconductor shortage issue and is posting sales decline due to curtailment in production. Having said that, the surge in Mahindra's sales numbers is primarily attributed to the overwhelming demand for the new Mahindra XUV700 that has bagged over 60,000 bookings. The company has already announced that it will complete all deliveries by January 14 and has dispatched the booked cars to the dealerships across India as delivery begun in the last week of October 2021.

The new-gen Thar has been a runaway success for Mahindra.

Veejay Nakra, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) - Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. Said, "Demand for vehicles across our product portfolio remains robust. We have received an unprecedented response for XUV700 and as per our commitment, we have commenced deliveries of the petrol variant to customers. Exports remain strong with a 57 per cent increase. The supply chain issues around semi-conductor related parts continues to be dynamic as we focus on managing the situation in the short term."

Quite obviously, SUVs has been the growth driver at Mahindra recording an increase of 9 per cent in sales at 20,034 units as compared to 18,317 units sold a year ago. Sales in the Vans + Cars segment recorded a slump of 69 per cent selling just 96 units this month as compared to Rs. 305 units in the same month a year ago.
